St Martins is a member of the South East Secondary Schools Sports Association (SESSSA) as well as the state-wide SSSA (Secondary Schools Sports Association). Depending upon the strengths and weaknesses of particular year levels, teams from St Martins are nominated to enter a vast variety of sporting events.

Athletics Carnival

The Secondary Athletics Carnival is a major focus of Term 1 and is generally held in Week 7. Students from Years 7 – 12 spend the day competing in their age groups in a full range of athletic events as well as some more laid-back novelty events. The day culminates in Championship Sprints, House Team Relays, and a Staff v Parents v Students race.

Swimming Carnival

This is traditionally held on the first Wednesday of Term 1 and involves all students from Years 7 – 12. Students compete in House teams and are encouraged to compete in as many events as possible. There are also a number of novelty events that allow all students to gain participation points.

SECONDARY PHYSICAL EDUCATION

Physical Education is compulsory for all students at St Martins up until Year 11. Core classes consist of a double lesson of practical activity per week. In addition to this, students in Years 9 and 10 also have the opportunity to select Specialist Physical Education as one of their elective subjects (4 lessons per week).
